April is a great month

April is a great month. The blossom creates explosions of colour on the trees and there's new buds and signs of life everywhere. Also a certain someone has a birthday.

The action of my first published novel, Dark Horse, takes place over the first couple of weeks April from April Fool's Day to the Grand National. Below I read you the start of Chapter 2, entitled "April Fool" :
